National Finals

The winning high school from the Virginia We the People State Finals goes on to represent Virginia at the We the People National Finals each April. We also occasionally (like this year) are able to take a wild card team to Nationals. Virginia has historically done very well at the National Finals, making it to the top 10 nationally every year but one over the last 20 years. We have claimed the National Champion title three times!

Middle schools may choose to compete at the We the People National Invitational, where Virginia has also taken top honors in multiple years.

Each team needs to raise close to $35,000 to send students to the National Finals. You can directly support a We the People National Finals competitive team through each of their respective fundraising platforms:

Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School (Simply give a donation to the annual fund, but when “checking out” from the online donation, put “We The People Nationals 2019” in the Comments/Special Purposes box.  The comment is crucial, otherwise it will be given to a segregated funding pool which cannot be appropriated to help the We The People team.)
